What is Japan Color Coordinator Association (J-color) ?

Since its founded in 2003, the Japan Color Coordinators Association (call by name: J-color) has been proposing and working on “color utilization” and “practice of color” based on color theory that is useful from color education to business purpose.

In J-color usually say to “Satisfying life with colors for everyone”. And more we are engaged in various activities to contribute to society through color based on our it is saying.


To really use color knowledge in the field and life.
In other words, or our words,”Color utilization”.

We are teaching and proposing “color utilization” to actually use knowledge of color according to purpose and application. We are promoting the development of color coordinators who can disseminate “color utilization” education and “color utilization”. In addition, we propose color planning and color strategies based on “color utilization” in the field of many companies.


The “practice of color” we propose is to make
the most of the importance and enjoyment of color.

We want as many people as possible to be aware of the importance and enjoyment of color.
We want you to learn the real “color utilization” method that is useful in everyone’s life. And by having them acquire knowledge of color, we will spread the meaning of color for practical use.

The color utilization method to use for self-promotion and business strategy.
There are two types of qualifying examination in J-color that aim at learning and practical use of “color utilization” to actually using knowledge of color according to purpose and application.

Furthermore, you can learn “how to use colors” by actually making use of colors in case studies, incorporating a lot of stories related to colors and techniques of color arrangement exercises.
In addition, you can learn the skill “how to tell with skill” that are essential when giving color advice to people, along with examples.

We will be able to send Qualification authorization badges to person who pass the Level 2 or Level 1, but Qualification authorization badges is sold separately.

Certified instructor system

We will be able to support those who want to convey the importance and enjoyment of color through the J-color sponsored qualifying examination, and those who want to spread the method of “color utilization” and carry out “practice of color”. And those who have agreed with the purpose of J-color, have participated in the prescribed courses, and have passed the examination / screening procedures can be active as J-color certified instructor on all over the world. In other words, the certified instructors are divided into “Color utilization life care color certification Level 2 certified instructor” and “Color utilization personal color certification Level 2 certified instructor”. And please kindly understand there are each conditions and rules in our association when we certify.

What is a PERSONAL COLOR?

“Personal color” is a “matching color” that matches the human pigment [coloring matter] tendency (eye, skin, hair color). It depends on the person what color is matching you. Wearing a “color to match good” will improve the complexion and make it look like a lively expression,
and wearing an “unmatched color” will make the complexion look bad and look like a dull and tired impression.
If you use “personal color” well, you will be able to create an image that takes advantage of your personality. If you can control the impression of appearance by “improve oneself branding” “self-branding” [Japanese say “Jibun Branding] with color, communication and self-promotion ability will be greatly improved.

Our official qualifying examination adopts a step-up method from the Level 3 to the Level 1 and acquire the skills to use “personal colors” for business.

Level 3:
You will be able to use and manage of your knowledge of color strategically.
And you can form “improve oneself branding” “self-branding” [Japanese say “Jibun Branding] by a matching color.Level 2:
You will be able to propose, advise and recommend to someone about“improve oneself branding” by matching color. This advantage knowledge is useful and helpful various situation like Fashion, Beauty, Bridal wedding, design, etc.Level 1:
You can create a new business model with color. And you will gain skills as a “color consultant”.
You will be able to drive many businesses to success with color knowledge that is fully responsive to client needs from individuals to businesses.There are several institutions with different color classification methods and criteria for “personal colors”.
However, J-color is a useful learning content that can be comprehensively studied from the basics to the application about the theory common to all institutions.

Qualifying examination are conducted in the form of Paper Based Testing (PBT) and Computer Based Testing (CBT).
*CBT carries out only Level 3 and Level 2 for Japanese language.
